Abstract:

Many Tuition Dependent Institutions (TDI) employ open enrollment or comparatively lenient admission standards to fulfill the tuition revenue needs. While many matriculates have the innate intellectual ability, they present gaps in the mathematics, reading and writing proficiencies. Depending upon the depth and breadth of deficiencies students are required enroll in one or more remedial courses. These sequences may last up to two years. Less than 50% of students enrolled in colligate remedial courses complete their assignments. With few ready solutions, TDIs must at least dramatically upgrade the consumer information.
