Abstract:
This paper examines the link between the loan processing and monitoring in banks, and asset growth and
empowerment of individual customers. The findings revealed that better allocation and utilization of
financial institution’s economic capital not only facilitates outreach to more under banked and unbanked
productive poor people but also empowering them by stimulating investments and increase productivity in
a cost- effective way for poverty reduction. On the other hand, unplanned implementation of credit risk
management, frauds, misconduct, none commitment and dishonest among employees, accounts for the
greater part of non-performing loans and portfolio performance problem among banks.
