Abstract:
This paper presents a framework for investigating the relationships between employee empowerment,
innovativeness, internationalization and firm performance. Based on current literature review, we claim
that complex investigation of SMEs simultaneously including all these issues has not been conducted.
Investigations of Polish SMEs have so far been few and fragmentary. In our opinion employee
empowerment, innovativeness and internationalization (the sources of competitive advantages) intertwine
and interconnect in a network of feedback relationships. Moreover, information technology (IT) can be
used to strengthen the relationships. As a result of critical literature review, we have built a conceptual
model and stated hypotheses.
